"EUROPE descended into crisis and chaos last night as the Brussels summit called to agree its finances until 2013 collapsed without a deal after Tony Blair rejected a last-ditch compromise.
The British Prime Minister and President Chirac of France were each blamed as one of the worst Anglo-French clashes for years erupted into open warfare and made agreement impossible."
Plus de choses changent plus qu'ils restent la même chose.
I can't claim to be anywhere close to knowledgeable about the European Union and its issues but I have been fascinated by the reporting over the last few weeks. The leaders of the various European Union members are fighting with each other, primarily the French and the British. This has lead to a fair amount of hand-wringing and dark prophesying about the E.U.'s future. It gives me great comfort, however, to know that in this fast changing world of ours, some things remain immutably true. The British and the French are not supposed to get along.
