Just Say No

Record numbers of people say they are too stressed to go to work, according to a report today.

I'm waiting for the apathy excuse to catch on.

Just wait until this next generation of college students comes out. School is in general to expensive to pay for without loans, and too time-consuming to be able to work more than a few spare hours a week. And thus a generation of experienceless workers with crippling debt are born. On top of that, yes, we've gotten lazy.

That doesn't bode well at all

It honestly wouldn't matter how much experience or energy you had, it will all get sapped out of you in a few short years. My advice: keep borrowing, take advantage of the forebearance option and stay in school.

borrow, borrow, borrow...student loans are the absolutely best financing for anything, incredibly low interest rates and after you get out you can forebear for awhile, then consolidate and amortize over 30-40 years...some ridiculous period of time. Moreover, the massive debt all you new graduates carry puts pressure on the employers to increase salaries to attract qualified employees. NOTE: I am not a certified financial planner and any opinions expressed herein are my own and not to be relied upon by anyone for any purpose at any time. Seek professional advice from your accountant or other duly licensed financial consultant (that last part is what several thousands of dollars in student loans for law school buys you...how to CYA).

Oh, you're responding on my blog to a post on your blog...I was sitting here wondering what does that have to do with student loans? Anyway, Happy B-day again! t-3 and counting, right?

Stress is one of those things that's hard to put your finger on. It certainly has potential for abuse (the "I've got stress" excuse) but on the other hand, anxiety and depression are real problems that do occur. However, these problems don't happen overnight - if co-workers/friends/family are vigilant enough, the warning signs of anxiety or depression can be noticed.

If general day-to-day stress is the problem, then a decent vacation is called for (not just a sick-day off).

That's my 4.76 cents (rounded to the nearest whole figure).
