Pakistan
From ABC News:
"The world should stop dwelling on the consequences of the U.S. war in Iraq and move on to resolving problems like Kashmir and the Palestinian conflict, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said on Friday. "It has happened, so why talk about it. It is done and finished. Let's forget it. We need to figure out what needs to be done now," Musharraf told students at Columbia University in New York, where is he attending a U.N. summit."
I've always liked this guy, well at least since September '01. He's gotten into some trouble this trip with statements like this:
"His trip has been overshadowed by mounting outrage in Pakistan and abroad at remarks he made in an interview with the Washington Post that crying rape was an easy way to make money and get a visa to Canada."
Hmmm...shouting rape is a money maker and helps you to cut through red tape at the passport office. Who knew?
"In his remarks to the students, Musharraf said Pakistan was much more moderate than often portrayed in the Western media. "Pakistan is a victim of misperception abroad," he said."
Pakistan a victim of misperception? That's interesting. I think the honor killings, the gang rapes, the rabid mobs shouting in the streets after Friday prayers, the bombings and suicide attacks on Christian churches and Shi'a mosques and Musharraf's own bizarre statements have probably contributed to our imperfect view of things there.
